STILL NORTH ARCTIC INSTITUTE

Evidence for a living Arctic.

Still North makes careful Arctic evidence easier to explore, from sea ice and wildlife to practical choices closer to home.

THE ARCTIC, IN CONTEXT

A changing Arctic. A clearer view.

+1.60°C

The 2025 Arctic water year was the warmest since at least 1900, relative to the 1991–2020 average.

A record-low maximum

March 2025 sea-ice extent reached its lowest winter maximum in the satellite record.

Long-lived ice is scarce

Ice older than four years has declined by more than 95% since the 1980s.

OUR WORK

Five programmes. One connected Arctic.

A useful record connects ice and ocean, plants and animals, instruments and people. Start with a question, then follow the connections.

BEGIN WITH ONE GOOD QUESTION

Use evidence without waiting for certainty.

Read a source. Learn a method. Choose a practical step. There is room for curiosity, care, and useful action.
